A diagnostic venous ultrasound, as performed in our vein center, consists of careful evaluation of both the deep and superficial venous systems of the legs. A detailed vein mapping of the superficial veins is obtained and any areas of disease or venous incompetence are documented in order to plan treatment.
We also offer DVT studies as a courtesy to referring providers if they are requested.
Please use our Secure Scheduling Platform(opens in a new tab) to request a visit.
Prior to your initial visit, our office will call and obtain your insurance information in order to verify that your policy provides varicose vein coverage.
All new patients will have a consultation with our doctor where they will review a vein focused medical history including any previous treatment. Physical examination with attention to the legs will be performed. It is not necessary to provide records from previous treatment in most cases.
Most patients will require a venous ultrasound to evaluate the leg veins and identify any problems with blood flow. This is a detailed evaluation during which we carefully look at both the deep and superficial veins in order to accurately diagnose venous reflux and formulate an effective treatment plan.
Our doctor will review these results with you and once the treatment plan has been developed, our office will provide you with an estimate of cost based on your insurance coverage. If you move forward with treatment, we will submit the treatment plan to your insurance for pre-approval. It typically takes 1-3 weeks to obtain the approval. We will then schedule your procedures at your convenience.
